20 albums that changed your life
I just got back from McNally Jackson bookstore where they held a reading for a new book titled “Heavy Rotation: Twenty Writers on the Albums That Changed Their Lives”, by Peter Terzian. While idling on the subway platform on my way to the bookstore in Soho, I pondered over the subject, and then started scribbling down a few albums that changed my life . I do not have 20, but here’s a few I jotted down, and why.
Ost Trifft West
In her book Ost Trifft West (East Meets West), Yang Liu, a Chinese designer based in Germany illustrated the underlying differences between these two cultures the way she experienced it, in beautiful and simple graphics. While it features a few stereotypes, much of what she observed ring very true and captured a lot of the nuances. Here are a few of my personal favourites

So here we are, Ashley, Sona, and myself, all so similar (25, females, career-minded, loves a bit of fun), and yet so different at the same time (fashion designer, finance-chic, and advertising, Caucasian, Indian, Chinese). And of all places, we met through Craigslist. Life is New York City is off to a good start.
